Privacy policy

No advertising or ad networks. No third-party analytics or social tracking pixels. No selling or sharing of personal data. No reader accounts, profiles, or newsletters that require your identity. We do not fingerprint your device or attempt to follow you across other sites.

We count how many times each article is read, and roughly how many distinct people read it, so we know what is worth writing. This is done without cookies and without storing anything that identifies you.

When a published article loads, the server derives a one-way hash from your IP address and browser user-agent combined with a secret salt that rotates every day and is never written to disk. We store only that hash — never your IP address, never your user-agent. Because the salt changes daily, the same reader counts once within a day but cannot be linked from one day to the next, and the hash cannot be reversed back to you.

Alongside that hash we keep only coarse, aggregate signals: the referring website's domain (e.g. a link from another site), a broad device type (mobile, tablet, desktop), browser family, operating system, and an approximate location. The location — country, region, and city — is looked up from your IP address using a database on our own server, in memory, at the moment of the request; we store only the resulting coarse location and never the IP address itself. Visits from the site's own team and from known bots are excluded.

The public site uses no tracking cookies. It stores two small preferences in your own browser, only when you choose them: your light/dark theme and your preferred post layout (grid or list). These never leave your device and are used solely to remember how you like to read.

If you are a member of the site's team and sign in to the admin area, a single secure session cookie keeps you logged in. It is functional, not for tracking.

Anonymous view records contain no personal data, so there is nothing tied to you to export or delete. Because we never store identifiers, we are unable to single out an individual's reading history — by design.
